Atlanta - over the weekend🍑

Atlanta - One of those cities that always came up while planning any of my trips, either as a connecting airport or using as a reference city for longer road trips.

However, I did get a chance to visit Atlanta and have another city under my belt.

Atlanta is a hybrid of New York and Chicago with super bad traffic but descent suburbs. It's also a perfect tourist spot to spend the weekend and do all the touristy things …

Atlanta is the fifth city to be the capital of the state of Georgia.

Funny fact: Almost all directions in Atlanta include the phrase: 'Go down Peachtree’ cause it belongs to the magnificent peach state of Georgia.

About the city 🏙…

Since there are plenty of tourist attractions that cost tickets, Atlanta offers City Pass which includes entry to main attractions. Adult passes are currently $83.77 and include admission to the Georgia Aquarium ($40.24) and the World of Coca-Cola ($19.60). Plus you receive free admission to three out of these four attractions of your choice: the National Center for Civil and Human Rights ($17.42), the College Football Hall of Fame ($25.04), the Fernbank Museum of Natural History ($21.60) and the Atlanta Zoo ($30.21 – $33.48).

Now that we figured tickets lets get rolling 🙂

Start with –

World of Coca Cola –

It’s a part of everything- museum, factory, attraction, movie theater, refreshment stand, and more! Tells you the history and evolution of coca-cola and houses the vault of the secret recipe of Coca-Cola. The most interesting section was the “Tasting room” to try the coke flavors from all across the world. Sample it away!

Varsity

The world's largest drive-in restaurant is located in Atlanta: Housed on more than two acres in Downtown Atlanta, the Varsity has been an Atlanta institution for more than 75 years. Able to accommodate 600 cars outside and more than 800 people inside.

Ponce City market

Ponce City Market is one of Atlanta’s hot spots. It is a recently developed mixed-use space. Cute shops, a variety of restaurants, boutique shops, and lively seating spaces indoors and outdoors. A must-visit for one of your meals.

The BeltLine: Tiny Doors ATL & Murals

The BeltLine is a 22-mile mixed-use trail that will eventually circle the city and connect 45 neighborhoods. The paved Eastside trail begins in Piedmont Park and goes south past Ponce City Market and into the residential neighborhood of Glenwood where it turns into the unpaved Southside trail.

Centennial-Olympic-park

Centennial Olympic Park is a 22-acre public park located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, owned and operated by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. It was built by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games as part of the infrastructure improvements for the 1996 Summer Olympics

SkyView Atlanta

Located at the South end of Centennial Park in downtown Atlanta, the SkyView Ferris wheel is set up to thrill families from all over the Atlanta Metro area. While passengers ride the attraction, they'll enjoy stunning views of the downtown skyline.

Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is a central focal point of Atlanta's Midtown community. The park is home to various annual celebrations and events, including Atlanta Pride Festival, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Music Midtown, Atlanta Black Pride, and Festival Peachtree Latino.

Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the USA. I’m sure it comes with no surprise that there is a lot to see and do here.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens

This botanical garden is a thirty acres of the garden is full of a variety of plant collections, conservatories, exhibits, and woodlands. My favorite part was the woodsy area with a canopy trail, it was less crowded than the indoor buildings on the other side of the gardens. The Earth Goddess in the Cascades Garden is quite impressive as well.

Zoo Atlanta

The Zoo houses more than 1,500 animals from 220 different species, so you can expect to spend a lot of your day exploring their exhibits.

Photo Opp at the Jackson Street Bridge

Now known for The Walking Dead promo, Jackson Street Bridge is one of the best spots for the quintessential Atlanta view.

Krog Street Market

Krog Street Market, nestled in the heart of Inman Park, is a food hall housed in a restored factory. It is one of the best food halls featuring amazing flavors and cuisines.

Legoland Discovery Center

This is a perfect place for kids to spend the entire day. With a bunch of Lego theme rides, a Lego store, and DIY activities.

Last but not the least

Julianna Cafe

A very cute breakfast place that serves amazing crepes and coffees with perfect insta-worthy outdoor.

There is plenty to do in Atlanta and my short weekend in this city had all the fun things to do.

Stay tuned for more travel destinations.
