Birthplace of California - fancy San Diego

San Diego is a beautiful paradise city that had so much to offer so it was really hard to cover everything in just three days but the beautiful city of San Diego is so easy to explore, #TeamTangy was able to get a hang of it pretty quickly.

It is one of those cities where you go as a traveler but makes plans to move there in a blink.

The city offers entertainment for kids and adults in a number of ways. From a wide variety of amazing restaurants, lovely beaches, beautiful hikes with a gorgeous rocky coastline.

San Diego is home to sea lions and seals and a visit to a sea cave is a must. For kids, there is a world-famous zoo, LEGOLAND, and Sea-world. All-star attractions.

San Diego has strong Spanish and Indigenous culture and sunny weather year-round which makes it a top city during the winter months. San Diego is classy – but it is also fun, artsy, historical, and naturally beautiful. But we’ll let the breathtaking views, iconic sights, and never-ending food options speak for themselves!

Top things to do in San Diego

You will find the top things to do below but there will be more included in your San Diego itinerary later.

Day - 1

Balboa Park

Balboa Park is the perfect family spot. You could spend an entire day here and still not explore every museum, garden, and arts center! The major attractions are

- Museum of Us or San Diego Museum of Man and California Tower

- Lily Pond

- Japanese Friendship Garden

- Fountain

- Spreckels Organ Pavillion

- San Diego Museum of Art

- Spanish Art Village Center

USS Midway Museum: The USS Midway was the longest-serving Aircraft Carrier in the 20th century before its decommission in San Diego, in 1992.

Maritime Museum: The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining, and operating historic vessels.

Embarcadero (Bayfront)/SeaPort Village: Embarcadero is a popular walking area along San Diego Bay where you will find marinas, cute cafes, a Santorini-feel with an amazing sunset.

Statue of unconditional surrender

Little Italy: This famous neighborhood comes alive in the evening, with a ton of restaurants and wine bars to choose between.

Day 2

La Jolla: La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya) is a very popular upmarket village-like neighborhood in Northwest San Diego, renowned for its fine dining and upscale village atmosphere.

San Diego’s crown jewel is surrounded on three sides by ocean but stretches 7 miles up the coast to encompass Torrey Pines (think best golf courses) and many educational institutes.

Torry Pines: Torrey Pines is best known for hosting the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour each Winter. But just to the South of the famed gold club, you can find Torrey Pines Gliderport. The Gliderport is a cool place to watch members running down a hill and leaping off the cliff edge!

Sunset Cliffs: Just over a mile to the South of Ocean Beach Pier, you will find dozens of cars driving in the same direction as daylight comes to a close.

They are all heading to Sunset Cliffs to watch a stunning Californian sunset over the Pacific Ocean. This has to be on your San Diego itinerary, particularly if you’re not from the West and don’t get to see these sunsets often.

Coronado: Coronado is a peninsula in San Diego bay, accessible by a magnificent 2.1 miles long curving bridge and home to the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado.

Gaslamp Quarter: We chose to stay in the heart of Gaslamp Quarter since it’s centrally located and is the main hub for restaurants and nightlife. It is here you will find over 100 restaurants, bars, nightclubs, comedy clubs, cafes, rooftops, and live music venues. The name derives from gas lamp street lights and the neighborhood retains its Victorian-era feel while modernizing with skyscraper.

Day 3

Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá: Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá was the first Franciscan mission in The Californias, a province of New Spain. beautiful sight and lovely views.

Old Town San Diego: Old Town was created as a settlement back in 1769 and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is the birthplace of California dating back to the 1820s.

You will find 19th-century homes and businesses maintained to allow an insight into colonial living, plus dozens of restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and hotel options.

We suggest you consider either Gaslamp, La Jolla, or Downtown San Diego as the best place to search for hotels.

  • Gaslamp – In the heart of San Diego, easy access to bars, restaurants & walks along the bay.

  • La Jolla – Perfect for those who prefer a relaxing base next to the beach & drive into town.

  • Downtown – Bulk of hotels with cheaper options between Gaslamp and Little Italy districts.

Go, enjoy San Diego!!!!!
