Winter Solstice!
Hi Travelers !
2021 is down by 3 months and with no action on the travel-notes, this girl is getting extremely restless. So, to catch the tail-end of the beautiful winter time we decided to have a very quick getaway to a ski resort and enjoy some snow activities and family fun.
This year, spring came a bit early but our family was quite successful in squeezing this very short getaway. This trip was full of adventure and brought an exciting time for our family. We bundled up and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day in the snow mountains at the Canna Valley resort.
The resort was short 2 hours drive through the mountains in West Virginia on a bright and sunny day with snow piled along the way.
For an adventurer like me, snow tubing and other snow sports have always excited me because of it’s uniqueness and it’s connection with my favorite season. Snow tubing is a super fun thing which could be enjoyed by kids and adults at the same time and this was the activity we did as a family and enjoyed every second of it.
The key to enjoy any snow sports is to keep warm from head to toe and throw the fear of heights out of the window ( uniqueness ..😀)
How we prepared !
Since staying warm is important we made sure all of us were dressed warm in our snow suits with proper snow boots, hats, gloves and sunglasses.
If your fingers are not covered, the whole experience of being in the snow becomes quite a pain. So gloves are the most important thing and cannot be missed.
We coincidently had bright snow jackets and we all looked super cute 🥰
Let’s talk resort !
We were able to get spots on the weekend in the beautiful all season resort when all the resorts were heavily booked for the season. I suggest booking in advance to avail a suitable time slot. But what made it even more relaxing and fun was a one night stay at the resort and enjoy some nice views, food and resort activities. (This surely made us miss the vacationing during the covid times) but it was a perfect tease.
The resort has plenty of good options and activities for the kids to be occupied. An ice skating rink, indoor pool and craft sessions to name the few. The dinner at one of the speciality restaurant was nice after enjoying at the arcade for a while.
The rooms were pretty comfortable and clean with nice decor which is always an advantage. One thing that I loved about the resort were the beautiful corridors leading to more gorgeous views.
Ride the magic carpet and go !
The whole experience of sliding down the hill in a tube heightens when you carry the tube and ride the escalator uphill and wait for your turn to be kicked down. The 45 sec slide down is very short lived but worth it. Within the 2 hour time slot we were able to sled about 8 times.
Snow tubes have no brakes and they're hard to control -- that's part of the fun! But it also means that once you get up to speed, any attempts to steer by dragging your hands and feet is a stunt you don’t want to pull.
The drive back was so pretty scenic and gave us a couple of beautiful spots to stop and take some nice shots. Our favorite was a glorious windmill farm.
Hopefully, I have inspired you to take up the snow adventure next season ... till then .... zoooom !
